Biography

Hi! My name is Aaron Baksh. I am a London based professional Dance Artist, Teacher, Choreographer, Performer and movement director. I grew up in South London where I trained at The Brit School in styles such as, Contemporary, Jazz, Ballet, Physical Theatre and Hip-hop. Additional training at Laban CAT Scheme then went onto further training at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance. Graduating with a Bachelors Honours degree in Contemporary Dance.  Trained in Contemporary (Release, Cunningham and Graham techniques) Ballet, Choreography and Screen Dance. Worked with choreographers such as Yagit Yakira and Tansuree Shankaar. My current practice draws from mixed disciplines within a variety of dance practices and cultures respectively. Grounded by Contemporary dance as my tool to shape my work. The styles I enjoy exploring with are Contemporary, Hip-hop, Capoeira, Dancehall, South Asian (Kathak) and Jazz.  Aaron has a range of work from commercial, staged shows, film and teaching. He has previously been funded for choreography from; Dance Umbrella (Shape-Shift 2021), Croydonites Festival (EXODUS 2023) for Borough of Culture 2023, Beeja Dance Company (EXODUS Solo 2024) and Borough of Culture Artist Development 2024.  Aaron currently works for SLiDE Dance Collective who are an inclusive community company working with SEN dancers and performing staged works and delivering or assisting workshops and classes. Aaron works part time teaching young people at Legacy Youth Zone up to 3 days a week delivering dance classes and developing performance work. 

 

Additionally, my other interests are in screen combat for TV and Film. I currently train part time in different disciplines and practices towards a possible stunt role in future. You can find my developments of this in the blog content section of this site.
